QR Code Sticker Paster for Online Gambling (Judol) in South Jakarta Earns Rp 100,000 per Sticker
Police arrested the suspect identified by the initials SP, alias the person who pasted QR code stickers for online gambling (judol). The suspect received Rp 100,000 for each sticker. ‘The wage per barcode is Rp 100 thousand. The wage per barcode the individual told us is Rp 100 thousand,’ said Pesanggrahan Police Chief, Kompol Seala Syah Alam, at a press conference at the Pesanggrahan Police Station, on Thursday (5/3/2026).
According to Seala, the suspect pasted the QR Code stickers on motorcycle handlebars and at a warung (eatery). The suspect briefly went viral on social media for pasting QR Codes at warteg and on motorcycle handlebars.
The incident began on Tuesday, 10 February, at around 17:30, when the barcode stickers went viral on social media. After the barcode was pasted at a warung, a warteg, and on a motorbike, police managed to arrest one person; both suspects have been listed on the DPO (Wanted List).
Police traced where the suspects pasted the QR Code. They found the QR Codes spread from motorcycle parking areas to eateries. SP alias P, together with F, pasted the online gambling barcode stickers at several locations: motorcycle parking areas, the seafood restaurant opposite a petrol station on Jalan Ciledug Raya in Petukangan Utara; the Alfamidi motorcycle parking on Jalan Bendi Raya in Kebayoran Lama; and then at the Pertamina petrol station motorcycle parking on Jalan M. Saidi Raya in Petukangan Selatan, South Jakarta. The suspects and the evidence will undergo further processing, and authorities will continue their investigation.
The lieutenant urged the public who encounter suspicious QR Codes not to scan them, as it could be very harmful. ‘The locations listed are only a sample; this is a new modus operandi. So we urge the public not to scan barcode codes if found, as this could be a scam that harms the public themselves,’ he said.
