Q1 2026: KAI Airport Transports 3.74 Million Passengers
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Throughout the first quarter of 2026, KAI Group’s land-air services, encompassing airport trains managed by KAI Bandara, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line, South Sumatra LRT, KA BIAS, and Minangkabau Ekspres, served 3.74 million customers.
“This figure illustrates how intercity and airport-connected journeys are increasingly becoming part of daily life. Amid this movement, trains serve as connectors that make travel feel more organised, more reliable, and more comfortable,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in an official statement on Monday (13/4/2026).
Of this total, the airport train services managed by KAI Bandara served 1.7 million customers, an increase of 8.48 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2025, which saw 1.6 million customers.
“Many customers now choose trains because travel times can be predicted, making journeys to the airport more certain,” she explained.
The YIA PSO service served 469,615 customers, while YIA Xpress served 227,652 customers.
She added that from the city centre to the airport, travel feels more measured with predictable durations, allowing customers to depart with greater peace of mind.
In North Sumatra, the KA Srilelawangsa continues to connect Medan with Kualanamu Airport and surrounding areas.
A total of 406,936 customers used the Medan-Kualanamu Airport route, while 651,071 customers continued their journeys to Binjai and Kualabingai.
In Jakarta, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line served 640,510 customers, up from 517,166 in the previous year, representing growth of around 23.85 per cent.
“Trains have become an integral part of seamless daily mobility. For many people, journeys to the airport now feel more relaxed, no longer fully dependent on road conditions,” she clarified.
In Palembang, the South Sumatra LRT served 1.08 million customers.
From the airport to the city centre and the Jakabaring area, travel feels more connected along a clear route.
Meanwhile, in Central Java, KA BIAS (Adi Soemarmo Airport) served 208,583 customers, up from 159,092 in the same period the previous year, marking growth of around 31.11 per cent.
From Madiun and Solo to the airport, journeys feel closer and more accessible.
