The implementation of the Indonesia-EAEU free trade agreement was previously discussed by the Indonesian and Russian governments during a joint commission meeting in Kazan on 13 May. According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the agreement will provide broader market access for Indonesia’s key products in the EAEU market, including palm oil and its derivatives, coffee, cocoa, fishery products, textiles, footwear, and furniture. ‘Indonesia views Russia as a strategic partner in the Eurasian region. This meeting marks a significant moment to strengthen existing cooperation and advance priority agenda items between the two nations,’ Airlangga said after meeting with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The free trade agreement was signed on 21 December 2025. The cooperation encompasses all EAEU member states: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. According to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as reported by Sputnik, the agreement establishes a preferential trade regime for the majority of products.
