'Puskesmas' fee may be increased

JAKARTA (JP): Plans to increase the fees charged by community health centers (Puskesmas) from Rp 300 to Rp 900 per patient may be realized if the city council approves a new city regulation on health matters, replacing a 1985 regulation.

The increase was proposed by the City Health Office because of increases in the prices of health instruments and facilities, Soesilo Darmoaji, a spokesman for the health office, told Antara on Tuesday.

"Ideally, fees for medical centers in Jakarta should be reviewed every three years so that the quality of medical services can be improved," he said. (bas)
