The Purwomartani toll gate in Kalasan, Sleman, will be activated as an exit point during the upcoming Lebaran exodus. Deputy Head of Traffic Management at Yogyakarta Regional Police Command (Polda DIY), AKBP Widya Mustikaningrum, explained on Tuesday that the Purwomartani–Prambanan toll section will be activated over approximately 12.25 kilometres specifically for vehicles travelling from Yogyakarta towards Klaten, Solo, and surrounding areas.

“The Purwomartani–Prambanan toll will be activated over approximately 12.25 kilometres specifically from Yogyakarta towards Klaten, Solo and beyond, commencing on 16 to 29 March 2026 from 06:00 to 18:00 WIB,” she explained during a visit from the Yogyakarta Regional Police Command led by Deputy Regional Commander Brigadier General Eddy Djunaedi at the Purwomartani toll gate location.

The toll section is exclusively for Class I vehicles, namely light vehicles such as sedans, jeeps, minibuses, pick-up trucks or small trucks, and buses.

“Entry through the Purwomartani toll gate is free, however toll charges apply at subsequent gates. Therefore, we urge toll road users to always check their electronic payment balance, as vehicles entering via the Purwomartani toll cannot exit at Prambanan but must proceed directly to the Klaten toll gate or continue further,” she stated.

Travellers heading to the Special Region of Yogyakarta from Central Java can utilise the exit through Prambanan Toll Exit or several other toll exits in the Klaten area. From these exit points, travellers can continue their journey to Yogyakarta and surrounding areas via arterial routes that have been prepared.

During both the Lebaran exodus and return period, the Yogyakarta Regional Police will implement various traffic management measures to facilitate vehicle mobility. One such measure involves closing several U-turn points on various road sections.

Additionally, one-way traffic systems will be implemented on several roads within Yogyakarta City and the coastal tourism areas of Gunungkidul Regency to ease vehicle congestion.

“We hope road users always comply with traffic regulations and follow instructions from field officers and additional signage installed to assist traffic flow,” she said.

The Lebaran exodus via sea route through Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang is estimated to commence on 12 March, prompting the opening of Lebaran posts.

Cleaning of the main northern coastal road has been carried out from the Kaligangsa section to the west up to the Losari road section, the Central Java–West Java border.

The Indonesian Transportation Community (MTI) has urged the government not to focus solely on toll roads during the 2026 Lebaran exodus. Improvements to proper arterial roads can serve as alternatives.

The National Traffic Police Command is conducting in-depth analysis and evaluation of the implementation of Operation Lilin 2025 as the basis for formulating the strategy for Operation Ketupat 2026.
