The Yogyakarta-Solo toll road segment between Purwomartani and Prambanan has been officially opened operationally today. The 12.2-kilometre stretch will serve as an entry route to the Klaten, Solo and surrounding areas.

“This morning we are conducting the opening of the Purwomartani-Prambanan segment. We are opening this functional road in one direction,” said Rudy Hardiansyah, Chief Executive of PT Jasa Marga Jogja Solo, in remarks to journalists at Purwomartani toll gate on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Rudy explained that the segment will be open from 16 March to 29 March and will remain toll-free during this period. Nevertheless, road users must still tap at the toll gate.

The functional toll is exclusively for Class I non-bus vehicles, which include small vehicles. Meanwhile, vehicles from Solo or Jakarta heading towards Yogyakarta will continue to exit at Prambanan toll gate.

“The restriction to small vehicles is due to the road condition not yet being 100 per cent complete. There are certain limitations we must maintain to ensure the safety of road users,” he stated.

During this operational period, the toll road operator will run three toll booths. However, additional booths may be deployed if vehicle traffic becomes congested.

“We are opening three toll booths for this operational period, but we have also prepared six mobile readers to assist in case of significant congestion,” he explained.

He noted that opening the Purwomartani-Prambanan segment can reduce travel time by up to 30 minutes. The speed limit on the functional segment is a maximum of 40 kilometres per hour.

“The travel time is approximately 10 minutes from Purwomartani to Prambanan. This represents significant time savings compared to alternative routes, which can take 30 to 40 minutes,” he said.

Furthermore, he predicted that the peak exodus traffic at Purwomartani toll gate would occur on 18 March. The return traffic is expected to peak on 24 March.

“We predict the peak exodus will occur on 18 March, with the return traffic peak expected on 24 March,” he concluded.

According to detikJogja’s observation, since the operational opening at 06:00 WIB, exodus vehicles have already been passing through Purwomartani toll gate. The majority of vehicles entering have out-of-region number plates. Toll booth officers are seen directing road users.
