Purbaya to Inaugurate Two Replacements for Officials Involved in Tax Restitution Issues Tomorrow
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that tomorrow, Wednesday (6/5), he will inaugurate two new officials to replace those indicated as involved in issues with the disbursement of tax restitutions. Purbaya declined to name the candidates he will appoint as Ministry of Finance officials when questioned by journalists during the April 2026 APBN KiTa press conference at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Tuesday. The new officials will be confirmed alongside the inauguration scheduled at the Ministry of Finance tomorrow. “We will announce it tomorrow. Tomorrow we will directly inaugurate the new officials,” Purbaya stated. The Finance Minister conveyed plans to dismiss two officials in the Ministry of Finance as an effort to address the tax restitution disbursement issues during a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday (4/5). Purbaya disclosed that he had investigated five officials involved in restitution management. Of those five, he decided to dismiss two. However, he did not reveal the names of the officials to be dismissed. The Finance Minister only explained that his investigation stemmed from findings regarding the value of tax restitution disbursements for the 2025 fiscal year that did not match the reports he received. Initially, he received reports from his staff that the tax restitution value was quite low. However, at the end of the fiscal year, he found that the disbursement value had surged several times over the information he received. “So, that is what we will fix. Do not let there be any more misinformation,” Purbaya said. His decision to dismiss the related officials is a form of firm action against the deviations occurring within the Ministry of Finance institution. He hopes that with this sanction, officials within the Ministry of Finance will carry out their duties as per the mandates received and avoid fraudulent practices. “The message is that when there is such an instruction, carry it out properly. Do not go overboard. Going overboard means not reporting developments accurately,” he stated.
