Purbaya to Evaluate DSI if Single-Door Export Scheme Fails to Boost State Revenue
Jakarta — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has emphasised that the government will strictly monitor the implementation of the single-door export scheme operated by PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).
He has even indicated willingness to investigate DSI should the policy fail to increase state revenue. “So I won’t be cutting taxes; rather, I expect to generate even larger income. If it doesn’t increase, then I’ll investigate what’s happening with DSI,” Purbaya said during a press conference at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Sunday (31 May 2026).
According to Purbaya, a primary objective of establishing DSI is to close loopholes in tax evasion practices that have long been suspected in commodity export trading, such as under-invoicing or reporting export values below actual prices.
Purbaya stated that the government has repeatedly found evidence of export value manipulation practices that could reduce state revenue. By routing all strategic commodity exports through a single gateway, opportunities for such practices are expected to diminish considerably.
“All taxes will apply as usual. In fact, I hope that Director Doni will generate even greater income for me, because export concealment schemes, under-invoicing and all manner of such practices will disappear,” he said.
Purbaya explained that the policy particularly targets domestic companies that profit from exports and use financing from national banks, yet deposit their export proceeds overseas. “If I’m not mistaken from the President’s directive, it is to target mainly companies that borrow from domestic banks, profit from exports, then stash their money abroad. Our intention is for them to keep that money within the country,” he added.
