Purbaya Assures State Budget Remains Secure Despite Oil Prices Surpassing 100 US Dollars
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget remains intact amid global pressures, including rising oil prices.
Purbaya stated that the government has prepared various scenarios through to the end of the year, including if oil prices reach 100 US dollars per barrel, or approximately Rp 1.6 million assuming an exchange rate of Rp 16,000.
“I just want to add a little to reassure media friends that we always maintain a sustainable budget, and with that, we still have room to provide a cushion against global economic turbulence,” Purbaya said during the virtual Press Conference on Government Policies in Response to Current Geopolitical Conditions on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
These calculations are for the entire fiscal year.
“Our current calculations up to an average of 100 dollars through to the end of the year mean our budget remains sustainable and the deficit is still manageable,” he said.
Purbaya assured that fiscal management is being conducted prudently to prevent the deficit from surging.
He also urged market players and the public not to worry about the state budget amid increasing global uncertainties.
With the available fiscal space, the APBN is expected to continue serving as a buffer as global economic pressures mount throughout this year.
