The government has officially extended the deadline for submitting the Annual Tax Notification (SPT Tahunan) for individual taxpayers. This policy was enacted during the reporting period, which coincides with the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holidays. Finance Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, confirmed that the original deadline of 31 March 2026 for SPT Tahunan submissions has been extended to 30 April 2026. “(The SPT reporting extension) 31 April. Extended by one month,” said Purbaya at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. As a follow-up, the Ministry of Finance will soon issue an official regulation in the form of a Circular Letter (SE) to serve as the basis for implementing this policy. Previously, Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto had indicated the possibility of extending the deadline for submitting annual income tax (PPh) SPT for individuals. This was considered because this year’s reporting period coincides with the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holidays, which could potentially affect reporting compliance. On the other hand, the Directorate General of Taxes is also preparing alternative measures in the form of administrative sanction relaxations for taxpayers who report SPT late. “Actually, what we are preparing is the provision of administrative sanction relief for annual PPh SPT submissions for individual taxpayers (WP OP) submitted after the 31 March deadline. In accordance with the KUP Law, the deadline for submitting annual income tax SPT for individual taxpayers is at most three months after the end of the tax year (31 March 2026),” he stated. As of 24 March 2026, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) recorded that 16,723,354 taxpayers have activated Coretax accounts. Of that number, 8,874,904 taxpayers have reported their annual SPT. In detail, Coretax account activations consist of 15,677,209 individual taxpayers, 955,508 corporate taxpayers, 90,411 government agency taxpayers, and 226 Electronic System-Based Trading (PMSE) taxpayers. For SPT reporting based on the January–December 2025 fiscal year, the number is dominated by employee individual taxpayers at 7,826,341, followed by 863,272 non-employee individual taxpayers. Meanwhile, corporate taxpayers reporting SPT in rupiah are recorded at 183,583, and 138 in US dollars. Taxpayers with different fiscal years also contributed to SPT reports, namely 1,549 corporate taxpayers in rupiah and 21 corporate taxpayers in US dollars.
