POLRES Purbalingga, Central Java, has been visiting markets to monitor the availability of basic necessities and ensure that food prices are affordable.

Chief of Police of Purbalingga, Commissioner Anita Indah Setyaningrum, confirmed that the prices of strategic food commodities in Purbalingga, Central Java, remain under control as the second week of Ramadan approaches. This assurance was given after a direct inspection at the Pasar Segamas market. “Based on today’s monitoring, the prices of strategic food commodities are relatively stable, and no traders were found selling above the prices set by the government,” said the Chief of Police on Thursday (February 26).

The Purbalingga Police visited the market together with the Banyumas branch of Perum Bulog and the Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Office of Purbalingga Regency. The joint team directly inspected prices and the availability of stocks of major commodities such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, beef, and chicken.

From the on-site inspection, no shortages of basic necessities were found. The supply is considered safe and sufficient to meet community needs. In addition, commodity prices are still below the maximum retail price (HET), while consumer purchasing power is also said to remain stable.

“We will continue to carry out periodic monitoring during Ramadan to ensure that price stability and the availability of basic necessities are maintained in the market,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyumas branch of Perum Bulog, Prawoko Setyo Aji, stated that the rice stock at the Pasar Segamas market is in a safe and sufficient condition. Various types of rice are available, ranging from medium, premium, and special grades to the SPHP (Supply and Price Stabilization Program), and all are sold in accordance with HET provisions. “Demand is relatively normal, stocks are continuously available, so prices and supply remain under control,” he said.

Prawoko added that the stock of cooking oil, especially the MinyaKita brand, is also being monitored as safe. The Pasar Segamas market has received four distributions of MinyaKita, with allocations of 10 to 50 cartons per trader, adjusted to distribution capacity. This supply will continue to be maintained to maintain stability at the consumer level.

“For MinyaKita purchases, each consumer is limited to a maximum of 12 liters or one carton. Most traders have understood these provisions and have been asked to put up price banners in easily visible locations and not sell above the HET,” he added. (H-2)
