JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing sustainability practices through various innovations targeting the company’s environmental, social, and operational aspects. Throughout 2025, the company is integrating sustainability principles into its business lines, from operational efficiency to the development of new renewable energy sources. Pupuk Kaltim’s President Director, Gusrizal, stated that the company’s sustainability approach not only focuses on meeting regulations but also drives innovations that directly benefit society and the environment. In terms of social innovation, Pupuk Kaltim is running the PKT BISA (Integrated Area Development Based on Agroenergy System Integration) programme. This programme promotes the utilisation of agricultural and livestock waste into alternative energy in the form of biogas, while supporting increased agricultural productivity for the community. The programme integrates agriculture, livestock, and renewable energy sectors into a single integrated area. In addition to PKT BISA, Pupuk Kaltim is also implementing the TAMASYA (Child Care Loving Garden) programme. This programme focuses on community empowerment, particularly in improving child care quality and family welfare. This initiative is part of the company’s social contribution to building human resource quality in the surrounding environment. On the environmental side, the company is strengthening the implementation of eco-innovation through the Road to Zero Waste concept. Through this approach, waste is no longer viewed merely as waste but as a resource with economic value. With proper management, waste can provide benefits not only to the company but also to the surrounding community. Pupuk Kaltim’s sustainability efforts are also reflected in the application of Carbon Economic Value (NEK). One of its implementations is through the construction of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) as part of the carbon emission reduction strategy.
