BOGOR – The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, has assured that the national road corridor connecting Gandaria-Cilodong (Depok) and Parung (Bogor) will be maintained in smooth condition ahead of the 2026 Eid exodus traffic.

The government is targeting all damage points and potholes along this route to be repaired seven days before Eid (H-7). “We will ensure the road has no potholes. To accommodate the Eid exodus traffic, we will temporarily patch the remaining damaged sections first. The target is to complete all work by H-7,” said Dody during an inspection of the national road infrastructure along the Parung stretch in Bogor on Saturday (29 February 2025).

Whilst the current focus is on emergency repairs for traffic flow during the exodus, Dody explained that permanent repairs to higher road stability standards are ongoing along the national highway. The lengthy stretch and heavy logistics traffic present significant challenges in the work.

During his inspection along the Parung-Bogor main road, the Public Works Minister also offered critical remarks regarding the quality of road repairs. Dody urged staff from the National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) not merely to patch but to conduct comprehensive repairs in phases across the 25.1-kilometre stretch from Parung Market onwards.

“I saw several points that have been patched, but the patches are still uneven. I worry this endangers drivers, especially at night and during rain, particularly when street lights are not all functioning,” Dody explained.

According to BBPJN DKI-West Java calculations, 239 billion rupiah is needed to complete comprehensive road repairs and reconstruction across the 25.1-kilometre section from Gandaria-Cilodong to Parung Bogor.

“We have already submitted a proposal to the central government; hopefully next year we will receive a larger package with more funds so this rigid work can be extended,” said BBPJN DKI-West Java Head, Rina Kumala Sari.

To date, only approximately 3 kilometres of road have been completed with concrete construction from the total requirement of 25.1 kilometres.

Ahead of the Eid exodus, BBPJN DKI-West Java is moving quickly to seal thousands of potholes along the route. Rina noted a total of 1,463 potholes across the stretch. “Until yesterday, we had sealed 1,200 potholes, leaving 263 remaining. With our patching team working continuously, we target sealing all potholes within the next five days,” she explained.

Beyond pothole patching, the team is also clearing roadside vegetation and normalising drainage systems to ensure optimal function.
