Two high-ranking officials at the level of echelon I or directors general (Dirjen) have simultaneously submitted their resignations from their positions at the Ministry of Public Works (PU). The two are Dwi Purwantoro, formerly serving as Director General of Water Resources (SDA), and Dewi Chomistriana, who held the position of Director General of Public Housing (Cipta Karya).

Following their resignations, neither Dewi nor Dwi have appeared in several official Ministry of Public Works activities covered by the media. However, several of these activities were still attended by Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo revealed the full timeline of his two subordinates’ resignations—Director General of Public Housing Dewi Chomistriana and Director General of Water Resources Dwi Purwantoro.

He stated that a letter from the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK) in January 2025 indicated state financial losses amounting to nearly Rp3 trillion. Hanggodo subsequently instructed his staff to follow up on the matter, but unfortunately no action was taken.

The BPK then sent a second letter to the Public Works Minister in August 2025. In this letter, it was conveyed that the state financial losses had decreased from the initial nearly Rp3 trillion to approximately Rp1 trillion.

The second letter also contained several recommendations, including the establishment of an ad hoc committee, formation of a team within the work unit (satker) to accelerate the recovery of state losses caused by third parties.

However, according to the Public Works Minister, there was also no further follow-up action from the Ministry of Public Works staff.

“Then third, I will also revive the Audit Committee. Because in any case, we must all agree—I cannot clean my house if my broom is dirty,” he further stated.

According to him, this is necessary so that the work carried out by the Inspector General will hopefully improve significantly in the future.

In addition, the formation of this committee also follows the mandate given by President Prabowo Subianto to Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo.

“And that is why I then implemented far stricter handling. I formed my own team which I personally led, and I personally assembled that team,” Hanggodo explained.

He also added that the steps he took also received support from the Attorney General’s Office, which assigned three prosecutors to the team formed by the Public Works Minister.

“Then, thank God, I was assisted by the Attorney General. The Attorney General assigned three clean officials to my team as well. So it cannot be said that the resignation was sudden, nor can it be because there was already a process beforehand,” Hanggodo disclosed.

“And when I began to work with my clean officials, the officials concerned (the Director General of Public Housing and the Director General of Water Resources) chose to resign. That is roughly how it happened,” he added.
