The Ministry of Transportation, through the Integrated Eid Transport Command Post 2026, recorded public transport passenger movements on Eid al-Fitr Day, Saturday (21/3/2026), reaching 873,916 people. In addition to passenger movements, vehicle traffic was also monitored as remaining quite high at several transport hubs.

“Eid travellers using public transport up to Eid Day remained quite high, but still under control. The mode of transport most used was still trains,” said the Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Information, Ernita Titits Dewi, in Jakarta on Sunday (22/3/2026).

Based on daily data, Titits continued, public transport passenger departures on Eid Day for trains totalled 364,649 people, consisting of 205,335 intercity passengers and 159,314 urban regional passengers. Departures by air transport totalled 206,785 people, consisting of 155,675 domestic passengers and 51,110 international passengers.

“Departures by sea transport totalled 21,141 people and ferry transport 177,564 people. Meanwhile, departures by land transport mode (bus passengers) totalled 103,777 people,” Titits said.

Cumulatively, Titits added, public transport passenger movements from H-8 (13 March 2026) to Eid Day (21 March 2026) reached 10,887,584 people. This figure shows an increase of 8.58 percent compared to Eid transport in 2025, which was 10,027,482 people.

The cumulative distribution by mode includes trains at 3,349,343 people, up 13.46 percent from 2,952,055 people the previous year; air transport at 2,397,192 people, up 2.95 percent from 2,328,551 people; ferry transport at 2,664,004 people, up 14.01 percent from 2,336,619 people; bus transport at 1,693,931 people, up 9.37 percent from 1,548,874 people; and sea transport at 783,114 people.
