Public Services in South Tangerang Ensured to Remain Normal Despite ASN Working from Home Every Friday
South Tangerang - The Mayor of South Tangerang (Tangsel), Benyamin Davnie, stated that public services in the city will continue to operate normally despite the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) being implemented every Friday.
He assured that employees handling public services will continue to work from the office to ensure that service activities for the community are not disrupted.
“Direct public service matters will proceed as usual,” said Benyamin Davnie when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
In its implementation, they will be directly supervised by the respective heads of regional device organisations (OPD) and reported in a tiered manner.
“Supervision is carried out by the OPD heads and reported to the mayor through the regional secretary,” he said.
Nevertheless, Benyamin has not yet detailed the number of employees who will undergo WFH every Friday. This is because data collection is still ongoing in each regional device organisation (OPD).
However, according to him, the implementation of WFH every Friday has the potential to reduce the burden on local government operations, including the use of fuel oil (BBM) and electricity.
“It will certainly have an impact on savings in BBM, electricity, and other operational costs,” Benyamin stated.
It is known that the central government has set a WFH policy for ASN one day per week, namely every Friday.
Despite this, the government ensures that public services continue to run normally.
In addition, several essential service units such as health, education, permitting, and disaster management are still required to work from the office.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, also emphasised that ASN carrying out WFH are required to activate their mobile phones so they can be monitored through the geolocation system.
This step is taken to ensure that ASN continue to work from home in accordance with the provisions.
