Puan Hopes KEM-PPKF 2027 Will Be the Foundation for Quality Economic Growth
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani said she hopes the Macro Economic Framework and Core Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 fiscal year can become the foundation for quality economic growth. Quality growth, she explained, means growth that not only increases GDP figures but also creates broad welfare for the people. ‘Growth that creates jobs, raises people’s incomes, reduces poverty and inequality, strengthens competitiveness, and ensures that development benefits are felt by all Indonesians,’ Puan said when opening the 19th Plenary Session of the DPR RI, the Fifth Session, at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday. She added that the macro assumptions and fiscal direction in the KEM-PPKF would also send signals to investors, the business world, regional governments, and market players about the space for the national economy next year. ‘The contents of the 2027 KEM-PPKF are a constant hope for all Indonesians to feel the benefits of national development so that people’s lives become easier and more prosperous,’ she said. Puan explained that the KEM-PPKF is an initial draft underpinning for preparing the 2027 APBN. The KEM-PPKF plays a strategic role not only in shaping the APBN’s posture but also in anticipating various economic risks. ‘The presence of the President will certainly be an important and strategic momentum to affirm that the design of the 2027 APBN is directed to provide the greatest possible benefits for all Indonesians,’ she added. Puan emphasised that the DPR would support government programs as long as they are intended for the welfare of the people. The House of Representatives (DPR) held the 19th Plenary Session of the Fifth Session of the 2025-2026 Legislative Year. The plenary was attended by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, with ministers, agency heads, and party leaders also present. In addition to delivering the KEM-PPKF by the President, the plenary agenda included reporting by the DPR’s Legislation Body on the evaluation of changes to the second Prolegnas Priority Laws 2026, followed by a decision making session. The agenda also included the delivery of opinions by factions regarding the Initiative Bill from Commission III on changes to Law Number 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National Police, proceeding to a decision to become a DPR-originated bill.
