Jakarta (ANTARA) - PTPN IV PalmCo has realised a number of Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) programmes in various operational areas spanning Sumatra and Kalimantan to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

“This year’s series of social initiatives is focused on expanding positive impacts, from free mudik facilities, stunting intervention efforts, aid for orphans, to support for inclusive education for children with special needs,” said PTPN IV PalmCo’s President Director Jatmiko K. Santosa in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3).

He explained that as a precautionary measure against the surge in mobility during this year’s Lebaran mudik, the company has dispatched 1,160 free mudik participants simultaneously.

In the programme, 31 bus units were deployed from seven company regions to serve 13 main routes across Sumatra and Kalimantan, including the busy Pontianak–Parindu–Sanggau–Sekadau–Sintang route.

He described the programme, part of “Mudik Bersama BUMN”, as the company’s effort to reduce accident risks and ease traffic congestion due to private vehicle use.

He assured that all deployed fleets have undergone thorough technical inspections and are driven by professional personnel.

“We have prepared this programme meticulously so that the public can mudik safely and comfortably. This is part of our responsibility as a BUMN to be present and provide real solutions for the community,” said Jatmiko.

In addition to the incidental mudik programme, PTPN IV PalmCo is also continuing its long-term health sector programme through stunting interventions titled “Nutrisi Sehat, Bangsa Kuat”.

Based on company data, this nutritious supplementary food aid previously reached 1,313 children in 2024 and continues to expand to 2,077 children in 2025.

“Entering early 2026, similar interventions are again distributed specifically to 110 children,” said Jatmiko.

The company’s approach goes beyond providing food aid such as formula milk, eggs, rice, and biscuits; it also addresses environmental health aspects, such as building healthy latrine facilities.

“Complementing social initiatives in the month of Ramadan, this palm oil plantation company also held Ramadan Safari reaching seven provinces,” said Jatmiko.

Through the activity, more than 500 orphans and dozens of underprivileged residents around the operational areas received aid distributed in stages.

Operational funding support was also channelled to several orphanages, including Panti Asuhan Hidayatullah in Pontianak and several others in Kalimantan and Sumatra.

He stated that PTPN IV PalmCo’s concern for vulnerable groups is also manifested through tangible support for inclusive education. In collaboration with the PTPN IV PalmCo Large Family Wives Association (IKBI), the company provided educational facility aid to the State Special Needs School (SLB) Negeri Sri Mujinab in Pekanbaru, Riau.

Management handed over computers and printers to support the teaching and learning process, as well as various vocational equipment to train student independence. The vocational aid provided includes portable sewing machines, overlock machines, and woodworking tools such as electric drills and sanding machines.

Jatmiko emphasised that every child, including those with special needs, has extraordinary potential that must be supported. He viewed the equipment handed over not merely as learning tools, but as gateways to independence for the students.

“Our collective task is to ensure they get equal opportunities to learn, develop, and achieve their future,” he said.

He affirmed that support for inclusive education is part of the company’s commitment to delivering real and equitable benefits to the wider community.
