The Board of Commissioners and Directors of PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) I conducted a working visit to Regional 1 on Thursday (18/6) to inspect Deli tobacco plantation operations and evaluate financial performance and business development strategies. The agenda began with a direct field inspection to observe the cultivation process of Deli tobacco, a commodity long recognised for its historical value and international reputation.

Independent Commissioner Sultan Adil Hendra stated that Deli tobacco is a flagship commodity whose quality and sustainability must be maintained. “Deli tobacco has historical value and unique advantages. Therefore, operational efficiency and the application of proper agronomic practices need to be continuously improved to support the company’s performance,” he said.

Following the plantation visit, the group held a coordination and evaluation meeting at the Regional 1 office. During the session, the Finance Directorate presented performance achievements and the necessary steps to increase revenue and profitability. Director of Finance Doni P. Gandamihardja emphasised the importance of financial discipline and optimisation across all business lines to meet company targets.

Meanwhile, Regional Head Regional 1 Wispramono provided updates on current operational developments and future commodity development plans. He noted that all planned programmes will adhere to the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). Through coordination between the Board of Commissioners, Directors, and regional management, PTPN I hopes to strengthen its business transformation and enhance competitiveness. This initiative is also expected to support the sustainability of the plantation business and contribute to the national economy. The working visit is part of the company’s efforts to ensure optimal management of plantation assets, including preserving Deli tobacco as a historic commodity that forms part of Indonesia’s plantation identity.
