PT Telkom has problems providing new lines
JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned telecommunications company, PT Telkom, has asked prospective customers in West Jakarta who have applied for new telephone connections for unoccupied buildings to immediately inform its West Jakarta office.
Head of the West Jakarta Telkom office Kiskenda Suriahardja said over the weekend his office faced various problems in installing new telephone lines in the area.
"In some cases, when our personnel went to the addresses given, they found the houses empty. In other instances, the officials found houses where phones were to be installed still under construction. They also often had difficulty locating some of the addresses of new customers," Kiskenda said.
He said such problems have adversely affected the office's efforts to fulfill its promise to new customers that it would provide quick service.
Due to such hitches Kiskenda asked prospective customers in West Jakarta who have applied for telephone connections to contact the nearest Service Point of the West Jakarta office or to call 162 by Nov. 10 at the latest to clarify if their houses are empty or still under construction. If no clarification is received by that date, the telephone lines ordered will be installed for other customers. (bas)
