PT SMI Provides Rp125 Billion Credit Facility for Greenroof Energy Solar Projects
PT SARANA Multi Infrastruktur (Persero), or SMI, has disbursed a maximum Rp125 billion investment credit facility to PT Greenroof Energy Indonesia (GREI/CN Greenroof Asia). The financing agreement was signed on Friday, 22 May 2026, at SMI’s headquarters. SMI’s Director of Financing and Investment, Sylvi J. Gani, stated the funding aims to support the acceleration of Indonesia’s national energy transition and strengthen the country’s green financing ecosystem. ‘SMI remains committed to supporting renewable energy development through sustainable and impactful financing,’ Gani said in a written statement on 22 May 2026. The collaboration with GREI is expected to expand solar energy usage in commercial and industrial sectors and support carbon emission reduction targets. The financing will be used to refinance GREI’s operational solar power plant (PLTS) projects. GREI’s shareholders, CN Green Roof Asia Pte. Ltd., is a joint venture between Climate Fund Managers via Climate Investor One (CI1) and Norfund. The company focuses on investing in, constructing, and operating solar energy and energy storage projects in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. CI1 is a US$1 billion blended finance facility focused on developing renewable energy infrastructure in developing countries. The programme is supported by public and private sector investors, including the European Commission through the Global Gateway initiative. Climate Fund Managers is a joint venture between Dutch development finance institution FMO and South Africa’s Sanlam Infraworks. In the agreement, GREI Director Eduardus Pandik said SMI’s financing would strengthen the company’s solar energy projects in Indonesia. ‘SMI’s financial support is a strategic step for GREI to continue expanding solar power plant development in Indonesia,’ Pandik stated. GREI is a solar energy and energy storage solutions provider offering long-term financing schemes without upfront customer investment. Under this business model, the company covers investment, installation, operational, and maintenance costs for solar power plants. Regionally, CN Green Roof Asia aims to expand solar energy development capacity from 110 megawatts to 500 megawatts over the next five years across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The partnership also reinforces SMI’s role as the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) Country Platform Manager, supporting financing for energy transition and low-carbon development projects in Indonesia.
