PT PSL Expands Nutritional Intervention to Prevent Stunting
PT Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva (PT PSL) is expanding the scope of its Pelita Programme (Pelindo Environment Without Stunted Children) in the North Rawa Badak Village, North Jakarta, targeting children, parents, and pregnant women. The programme reaches 30 stunted children, 3ively 30 parents or guardians, and 25 pregnant women through nutritional intervention, family education, and health assistance.
The implementation of the 2026 Pelita Programme involves six entities within the Pelindo Group. Interventions are not only directed at children experiencing stunting but also at families and pregnant women to strengthen prevention starting from the pregnancy period.
Dewi Fitriyani, Senior Vice President of Corporate Secretariat at PT PSL, stated that handling stunting requires continuous intervention involving the family. According to her, meeting a child’s nutritional needs must go hand-in-hand with increasing parents’ knowledge regarding health and development.
“Stunting is not just an issue of child growth, but also concerns the future of the nation’s generation. The struggle for nutritional status and child health does not begin when a child is born, but much earlier, during the mother’s pregnancy,” Dewi said in a press release on Tuesday (1/9/2026).
Consequently, the Pelita Programme also targets 25 pregnant women through vitamin distribution, as well as 30 parents or guardians through education on healthy parenting patterns and training in processing economical and nutritious local food ingredients.
For the 30 child beneficiaries, interventions are carried out through the provision of nutritious supplementary foods and the monitoring of growth and development. This approach is aimed at supporting nutritional fulfillment during the first 1,000 days of life.
The programme aligns with the government’s target to reduce stunting prevalence to 14.2 per cent by 2029. Prevention efforts are conducted from pregnancy through to the child’s growth period, with the family playing a key role in meeting nutritional needs.
The Head of North Rawa Badak Village, Ester Laura Kartini, stated that stunting prevention must begin during pregnancy through maternal nutritional fulfillment, followed by proper parenting and monitoring of child development.
“We appreciate the collaboration established in the 2026 Pelita Programme. Children are the greatest investment for the nation’s future; therefore, stunting prevention efforts do not start when a child is born, but from the pregnancy stage through good nutrition for the mother,” said Ester.
The Pelita Programme is a CSR initiative by PT PSL that has been running since 2024. In its initial stage, the programme targeted 10 children identified with stunting around the company’s operational areas, later increasing to 20 beneficiaries in 2025.
In 2026, the programme’s scope has been expanded to involve parents or guardians and pregnant women. This expansion places the family as a target of intervention, ensuring that prevention efforts do not focus solely on treating the child’s condition.
PT PSL noted that the Pelita Programme is part of the company’s and Pelindo Group’s contribution to supporting the improvement of human resource quality through public health and nutrition aspects.
