PT Pos Indonesia
PT Pos Indonesia
From Bisnis Indonesia
Data Business Indonesia's Christianto Wibisono was right in
suggesting that PT Pos Indonesia should diversify its business.
Especially since the company is in a transition period, going
from an atomic era to a more revolutionary stage, as forecasted
by Nicholas Negroponte, an expert of Media Lab MIT (United
States).
In line with this, I would like to suggest the following
business proposal, since I am a career consultant and a business
observer of Internet. I too am of the opinion that the company
should diversify its business.
It could, for instance, set up a sister company, or open up a
special service for job hunters and human resource companies.
This suggestion makes sense since 90 percent of job hunters send
their applications through the post. The same applies to
companies who contact would-be employees through the postal
service.
Alas, this market potential has not been fully developed by PT
Pos. On the contrary, various media often report them as
unproductive; late letter deliveries for instance, turning
expectations into profound disappointment on the part of the job
hunters.
My suggestion is, to quote management expert Tom Peters, bring
in an expert in management. PT Pos should assemble consumers and
provide them with training, like teaching job hunters how to job
hunt. At the same time, a special service for applications and
interview letters should be set up. PT Pos could design special
envelopes for application letters, which would help in sorting
them out for priority service.
Synergy pursuits of business opportunities, in a marketplace
and in a market space, should open up other latitudes, as in
information and recreation, instead of mere postal service
undertakings.
I foresee that this synergy will bring about revolutionary
changes to PT Pos Indonesia, in line with the future lifestyle of
the 21st century.
