PT Otsuka holds social activities
JAKARTA (JP): PT Otsuka Indonesia, a pharmaceutical firm, is providing free medical treatment for poor families in eight puskesmas community health centers in Jakarta.
The program started at a puskesmas in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Tuesday. The services available include dental care, infant immunization and family planning.
Amir Basir, vice president of PT Otsuka, said that the eight clinics are part of 25 puskesmas centers in a number of cities throughout the country to receive the services.
PT Otsuka, the producer of a newly introduced soft drink in Indonesia, is a joint venture between Indonesian and Japanese companies and not between Indonesian and Korean firms as was reported yesterday.
He reiterated that the program is being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's independence and also the 20th anniversary of the company's establishment. (hhr)
