PT Lintas Armada Indonesia distributes aid to four welfare homes in Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT Lintas Armada Indonesia (LAI) distributed aid to two orphanages and two elderly care homes in Jakarta to assist the managers in meeting the needs of their residents.
‘This aid is a form of care and solidarity for our brothers and sisters who are economically less fortunate,’ said Antonius Chandra, owner of PT Lintas Armada Indonesia (LAI), accompanied by directors Susana Wongso and Haji Junaidi, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said the four facilities are spread across Pejagalan, Penjaringan, Cengkareng, and Sunter Tanjung Priok.
The company began distributing aid to the facilities on Wednesday, starting with Panti Asuhan Adinda and Panti Sosial Bina Daksa Budhi Bakti in West Jakarta.
‘The next two facilities will receive aid the following day,’ Chandra said.
He noted that this activity is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility drive, and this major CSR activity is conducted twice a year.
‘Our company shows dedication and compassion for others by sharing, so that it can set an example for other entrepreneurs to also share and ease the burden of our fellow citizens who are economically less fortunate,’ Chandra added.
In this phase, the aid provided includes food assistance such as 410 kilograms of rice, eggs, oil, canned foods, pantry items, personal hygiene items, books, school supplies and other necessities.
‘We hope this aid can benefit our fellow citizens and help the managers meet the needs of the residents of the homes,’ he said.
Meanwhile, the manager of Panti Asuhan Adinda, Nani Suharti Soedarmo, expressed gratitude for the assistance received.
She said the amount of aid received by the home she runs, since 1998, has begun to decline.
‘Perhaps due to the economic situation, the aid has decreased,’ she said.
Nani said the orphanage she runs houses 50 children who are in elementary, middle, and high school. All are from Jakarta and placed there for various reasons, including those without homes.
Similarly, Siti Nurhayati, Head of Pelayanan Panti Sosial Bina Daksa Budi Bhakti 2, who praised the assistance, said.
Siti noted that the social home she runs houses 430 elderly residents. More than half of them are ill and bedridden and require care.
‘There are 260 people who are ill and bedridden here and 186 who are independent, among others,’ she said.
