PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung Provides 345,840 Seats During 2026 Lebaran Travel Period
During the 2026 Lebaran travel period, PT KAI (Persero) Bandung Regional Office (Daop 2 Bandung) will provide a total capacity of 345,840 seats, averaging 15,720 seats per day.
The capacity will be delivered through a total of 28 train journeys daily, comprising 24 regular scheduled services and 4 additional services: two additional Lodaya trains, one additional Kiaracondong-Surabaya Gubeng service, and one additional Kutojaya Selatan service.
PT KAI Bandung confirmed its readiness to serve passengers during the 2026 Lebaran travel period, marked by the deployment of the 2026 Lebaran Transport Command Post on the forecourt of Bandung Station on Friday, 13 March. The rally was led by PT KAI Operations Director Awan Hermawan Purwadinata, who stated that KAI had conducted comprehensive preparations to ensure all services run safely and reliably throughout the outbound and return travel periods.
The 2026 Lebaran travel period spans 22 days, from 11 March to 1 April, with extensive preparations undertaken to guarantee safe, comfortable, and efficient travel for the public.
“Through this 2026 Lebaran Transport Command Post, KAI declares full readiness to serve passengers celebrating Eid al-Fitr 2026 with their families. All KAI personnel are committed to providing the best service so that journeys proceed safely, comfortably, and punctually, delivering a ‘Comfortable Lebaran Together,’” he stated.
As of 12 March 2026, train ticket sales for the Lebaran travel period from the Daop 2 Bandung region had reached 233,872 tickets, representing approximately 67.6% of total available capacity.
The 30% discount ticket promotion has been well-received by the public, with a total of 54,462 promotional tickets sold.
Several trains recorded the highest ticket sales during this year’s Lebaran travel period, including the Kahuripan, additional Kiaracondong-Surabaya Gubeng, Cikuray, Kutojaya Selatan, Malabar, and Harina services.
In terms of station services, the KAI Daop 2 Bandung region operates 54 stations serving train journeys during the 2026 Lebaran travel period. Additionally, ticket cancellation services are available at five stations.
Service facilities are also enhanced with facial recognition technology at Bandung and Kiaracondong stations to facilitate passenger boarding procedures.
To support train operations during the Lebaran travel period, KAI Daop 2 Bandung has prepared reliable equipment comprising 31 locomotives, 241 train cars, and 4 KRDE trainsets. All equipment has undergone inspection and maintenance procedures to ensure operational readiness throughout the Lebaran period.
KAI Daop 2 Bandung has also deployed additional personnel to ensure the smooth and safe operation of train services. A total of 154 extra personnel have been assigned, consisting of 58 additional track inspection officers, 57 additional level crossing guards, and 35 special surveillance area (Dapsus) protection officers.
Furthermore, 14 Mobile Customer Service officers have been stationed at major stations including Cimahi, Bandung, Kiaracondong, and Tasikmalaya to assist with passenger information needs.
Regarding security, 778 personnel have been deployed to support safety during the Lebaran travel period, comprising 698 Polsuska (Railway Police) and security officers, 19 territorial personnel such as Babinkamtibmas and Babinsa, and 61 external security personnel.
Health services are also provided through 12 health command post locations, supported by general practitioners and paramedics, as well as ambulance and automated external defibrillator (AED) facilities.
KAI Daop 2 Bandung has implemented various preventive measures against potential extreme weather conditions. A total of 55 special surveillance areas have been identified, comprising locations with unstable soil or subsidence, landslide-prone areas, flood-prone zones, and vulnerable bridge points.
As part of efforts to ensure safety and service quality, KAI Daop 2 Bandung, together with the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation and the Bandung Railway Engineering Centre, has conducted ramp checks of equipment and infrastructure, as well as Minimum Service Standard (SPM) inspections on trains and stations throughout the Daop 2 Bandung region.
Furthermore, various operational strategies have been prepared, ranging from fleet capacity provision for regular and additional train services, optimisation of train operation control, enhanced safety measures across all operations, to the positioning of backup equipment at strategic locations.
Through these comprehensive preparations, KAI Daop 2 Bandung is committed to delivering the best service to all passengers travelling by train during the 2026 Lebaran travel period.
