PT INTI to Close, Danantara Confirms No Staff Layoffs
JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia, the state investment management agency, has confirmed that the potential closure of PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (INTI) will not result in staff layoffs.
COO Dony Oskaria stated that employees remain secure despite the company undergoing evaluation. ‘No layoffs. Staff are safe. We’ve already said that. None will be laid off,’ he told reporters at the DPR Building in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026. PT INTI is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) involved in telecommunications equipment and technology production.
The state-owned company, established on 30 December 1974, has been operational for nearly 52 years. ‘We are conducting assessments and checks. As previously mentioned regarding BUMN streamlining, all are still under verification,’ he added.
Previously, Oskaria indicated Danantara is considering closing several BUMNs facing issues due to suboptimal governance and lack of coordination. PT INTI is among those under review.
‘We are familiar with many well-known BUMNs; for instance, PT INTI in Bandung was once highly prominent but now faces problems and may be closed,’ he said at the Jogja Financial Festival (Finfest) 2026 in Yogyakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026.
Established in 1974, PT INTI was a backbone of national telecommunications infrastructure development. From 1985 to 1998, the government appointed it as the sole supplier of Indonesia’s Digital Telephone Switching System (STDI). During its peak, the company controlled around 60% of the national telecom infrastructure market.
Currently, PT INTI operates multiple business lines, including optical fibre cable production, smart energy devices, and composite LPG cylinders. The company also assembles smart devices for broadband and smart energy products, smart cards, and genuine products.
