The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has stated that the reporting of the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), regarding alleged blasphemy against the Christian religion was not a party directive. Although Sahat Martin Philip Sinurat is a PSI cadre.

“Eh, I would like to remind that (Sahat) is not a PSI cadre who made the report. We have no business with it; PSI has no involvement in the reports against Mr Jusuf Kalla. But as an individual, they have an organisation called GAMKI, and there are 20 organisations behind it, and then they made the report,” said PSI’s acting chairman Ahmad Ali when met at Jokowi’s residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, as reported by detikJateng on Thursday (16/4/2026).

Ahmad Ali stated that although Sahat holds the position of Head of the Politics Division in PSI, there was never any directive to report JK. Meanwhile, Sahat reported JK through the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI).

“As an individual (reporting JK), he has responsibility and he has rights. Similarly, of course, Sahat’s friends as Head of the Politics Division in PSI, that is not a party order, that is an order from his organisation (GAMKI),” he explained.

He admitted that the PSI central board had once gathered cadres to not take action in reporting Jusuf Kalla.

“One day before that Monday, we had a meeting with the General Chairman to remind all cadres not to (report). But on the other hand, we must respect that before PSI existed, those organisations were already there. So we must respect their personal rights as well,” he revealed.

Previously, Jusuf Kalla was reported to the Metro Jaya Police after a viral video of his sermon about ‘martyred death’. The reporter in this case is the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI). They reported Jusuf Kalla on Sunday night (12/4).
