PSI Deputy Chairman Bro Ron Assaulted in Menteng, Central Jakarta; Two Suspects Arrested
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police have arrested two men who assaulted Ronald A. Sinaga, the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), commonly known as Bro Ron, in Menteng, Central Jakarta.
The assault on Ronald went viral on Tuesday (5/5/2026) after it was uploaded by Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Ahmad Sahroni, on his official Instagram account @ahmadsahroni88.
In the video of the incident, a man wearing a cream shirt is seen approaching Ronald to talk. However, Ronald appears to avoid the man.
Suddenly, another man in a black shirt punches Bro Ron in the face. The man in the cream shirt then approaches Ronald.
One TNI officer is seen trying to intervene.
“I request attention from @kapoldametrojaya @divisihumaspolri @polsekmetromenteng_official,” reads the caption in Ahmad Sahroni’s post.
When confirmed by Kompas.com, Menteng Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu confirmed that the incident occurred in Menteng.
“It is true that an incident like the one in the video occurred. Mr Ronald has already filed a police report,” Braiel said when contacted by Kompas.com via text message on Tuesday.
In addition, statements have been taken from Ronald and two witnesses to the incident. Meanwhile, the two suspects have been arrested by the police.
“The two suspected perpetrators have been secured at the police station for further processing,” Braiel said.
However, the police have not yet explained the chronology or the reason why Bro Ron was assaulted by the two suspects.
