The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has commented on Ade Armando’s resignation as a party cadre following legal proceedings in a case of alleged incitement and hate speech.

PSI’s Acting Chairman Ahmad Ali acknowledged that the report against Ade has now implicated the party, noting that this is not the first time such a situation has occurred. Previously, Ade’s statements had led to direct attacks on PSI.

“Brother Ade invited us to discuss to convince us that if this is not addressed promptly, it could have broader impacts on the party. Because past experiences show that Brother Ade’s statements are always linked to PSI,” Ali said during a press conference at the DPP office on Tuesday (5/5).

However, Ali emphasised that Ade Armando’s resignation was not due to pressure or a request from the party, but rather a personal consideration.

Ali explained that the party had held lengthy discussions with Ade Armando regarding his decision to step down. In those discussions, Ali said, Ade admitted he was worried that the legal case involving him would not only affect the party but also the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

“So according to Brother Ade’s analysis, this could expand to the party, and even refer to Mr Jokowi. It’s always linked, linked, linked there,” he stated.

“Based on that, we accepted his consideration because, on the other hand, what Brother Ade conveyed is a reality and makes sense,” Ali added.

On that occasion, Ade reaffirmed that his resignation was not because he had issues with PSI. He said the move was to protect the party in light of the legal case he is facing over allegations of incitement and hate speech.

Ade stated that the case had dragged the party too far, and he did not want that to happen. He mentioned that as a result of his case, the party and several internal colleagues had been implicated. According to him, there were threats that the party’s activities would be obstructed due to the case, including ahead of the 2029 elections.

“People will make it difficult for PSI’s work in various places going forward, towards the 2029 elections,” he said.

Ade Armando and Permadi Arya were reported to the Metro Jaya Police regarding alleged incitement and provocation stemming from a clip of JK’s sermon at the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Mosque some time ago.

The report was filed by the Maluku Advocacy Profession Alliance (APAM) and registered under number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.

“We visited the Metro Jaya Police to file a police report on the alleged criminal acts of incitement and provocation suspected to have been committed by Ade Armando and Permadi Arya via social media,” said APAM representative and complainant Paman Nurlette to reporters on Monday (20/4).
