PSBM XXVI: A Platform for Building Business Networks to Boost Indonesia's Economy
Makassar (ANTARA) - The 26th Meeting of Bugis-Makassar Merchants (PSBM XXVI) in 2026, which brought together various figures and Bugis-Makassar merchants, served as a platform for building business networks to support Indonesia’s economy.
The event, held over two days from 26-27 March, was officially opened by the General Chairman of the Central Board of the South Sulawesi Family Harmony (BPP KKSS), Andi Amran Sulaiman, who also serves as the Minister of Agriculture.
In his address in Makassar on Thursday, Amran emphasised the importance of strengthening economic networks based on the Bugis-Makassar diaspora as a major force in driving national economic growth.
“PSBM is not just an annual tradition, but a real instrument in building business synergies, investment, and economic empowerment of the community,” said Amran.
He not only discussed merchant networks but also launched the operations of the KKSS Elite School, a long-term investment that signifies the integration of economy and education.
A series of national and local figures added distinct colour to this forum. PSBM initiator Aksa Mahmud reminded participants of the historical roots of PSBM as a platform for Bugis-Makassar merchants in building strong and sustainable business networks.
In addition, attendees included Tamsil Linrung, Nasaruddin Umar, and Veronica Tan. Their presence indicated that PSBM has developed into a cross-sector forum uniting economic, social, and religious perspectives in one dialogue space.
Meanwhile, several politicians from South Sulawesi, such as Meity Rahmatia, Andi Iwan Aras, and Syamsu Rizal, joined in enlivening the discussions and interactions in the forum.
Not only that, the presence of governors from various provinces further affirmed PSBM’s position as a strategic national-scale forum.
Among them were Andi Sumangerukka, Sherly Tjoanda Laos, Yulius Selvanus Komaling, Apolo Safanpo, and Zainal Arifin Paliwang. From East Kalimantan, Rudy Mas’ud, who is also the Chairman of APPSI, attended bringing the spirit of inter-provincial collaboration.
