JAKARTA – The increasingly globalised nature of the working world demands greater preparedness than academic achievement alone. Practical experience, critical thinking ability, and self-confidence have become determining factors in professional success.

A skills gap between academic competence and industry requirements remains evident. The strengthening of soft skills such as presentation, problem-solving, and decision-making is considered essential.

PT Prudential Life Assurance has introduced the Prudential–INSEAD NextGen Academy. The programme runs for three days at INSEAD Asia Campus, Singapore, on 7–9 July 2026.

Karin Zulkarnaen, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer of Prudential Indonesia, stated the programme is designed for final-year undergraduate students from various disciplines. Participants will experience learning in the style of a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

“Through real-world case studies, strategic discussions, and decision-making simulations, participants will gain direct understanding of the dynamics and challenges within a global work environment,” she said in an official statement on Monday (2 March 2026).

Prudential Indonesia will send six selected students to join other international students. Cross-cultural interaction and global networking are expected to broaden perspectives and strengthen career readiness.

The programme forms part of Prudential Indonesia’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) on the social pillar, focusing on community empowerment through educational access and young talent development.

The company believes that long-term investment in globally competitive young people will contribute to improved living standards and sustained social impact.

“We understand the importance of opening wider learning opportunities for Indonesia’s young talent. Through the INSEAD NextGen Academy, we want to provide a learning experience that not only enriches perspectives but also builds confidence and readiness for the evolving professional world,” said Karin.

The programme also serves as an initial phase in identifying young talent to build a long-term talent pipeline. Graduates have opportunities to participate in internship programmes and permanent recruitment.

“We are convinced that investment in developing future leaders will ensure continuity, stability, and sustainability amid an industry undergoing significant demographic change,” Karin added.

Registration opens until 31 March 2026. Selection will take place in April 2026, with announcement of selected participants in May 2026.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency recorded unemployment reaching 7.28 million people as of February 2025, rising 1.1 per cent or 83,000 people compared to the same period last year. Graduate unemployment increased 14.6 per cent, the highest among all education levels.
