The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR Task Force) for Sumatra has stated it is ready to assist ministries and agencies facing delays in expediting budget disbursements for 2026 rehabilitation and reconstruction in the three affected provinces. Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs and PRR Task Force Secretary Tomsi Tohir made the statement during a meeting on accelerating ministry/agency budget disbursement on Friday, 29 May 2026. “Should ministries and agencies encounter obstacles during budget revision processes, they may coordinate with the PRR Task Force command post for assistance and further action,” Tomsi told representatives from 32 ministries and agencies present. Attendees included representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Ministry of Transportation (represented by the Head of the Financial Bureau), Ministry of Health, Bappenas, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). He noted that the central government has communicated with the Directorate General of Budget at the Ministry of Finance to confirm that 2026 rehabilitation and reconstruction funds are available. “The money is there and will be disbursed promptly once all documentation is complete,” Tomsi said, quoting Finance Minister Purbaya’s earlier statement to journalists in early May. He also opened direct communication channels for ministries and agencies facing difficulties in budget disbursement. “If there are difficulties with fund disbursement, coordinate with the PRR Task Force command post led by National Police Inspector General Wahyu Bintono, or message me directly via WhatsApp—we will assist in expediting the process,” he said. Tomsi stressed that accelerating budget disbursement for the remaining seven months of the 2026 fiscal year must be matched by swift on-ground rehabilitation and reconstruction. He added the government must act quickly before the rainy season returns by year-end, which could exacerbate disaster risks. “We need the budget to be finalised quickly and execution to follow immediately,” Tomsi said. Home Affairs Minister and PRR Task Force Chair Tito Karnavian stated the government and Parliament have agreed on Sumatra’s recovery budget needs in line with the PRR Master Plan (Renduk). The document serves as the blueprint for permanent rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The PRR Master Plan is an updated and aligned version of the PRR Action Plan developed by 38 ministries and agencies to address post-disaster needs across 53 affected regencies and cities. The document outlines approximately 11,512 cross-sectoral rehabilitation and reconstruction activities from 2026 to 2028. The total budget requirement over three years amounts to Rp100.1 trillion, with Rp38.9 trillion allocated for 2026. “Praise be, it has been approved at the government level, and we have reported it to the DPR’s PRR Task Force led by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad,” Tito said. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed the government has prepared funds for Sumatra’s post-flood recovery in 2026 and urged ministries and agencies to promptly complete administrative requirements to avoid delays. “I’ve instructed my Director-General to follow up on disaster-related budget requests daily, call them if needed. If documents are incomplete, they must be fixed immediately. If necessary, we’ll send teams to the field to speed things up,” Purbaya said. He also stressed the government does not want administrative processes to delay disaster recovery efforts. “So there’s no need to worry—the funds are there,” he said.
