The Chairman of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, Tito Karnavian, has urged cadets from the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN) to work diligently to clean up the mud still covering residential areas in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh.

Tito conveyed this during the opening roll call he led for the third wave of Field Work Practice (PKL) for IPDN Pratama Cadets at Istana Benua Raja, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Saturday (4/4/2026).

Tito stated that the 731 IPDN cadets in the third wave deployed to Aceh Tamiang will be focused on mud cleaning activities in residents’ homes, drainage, and village roads.

The mud cleaning activity in the third wave is part of efforts to accelerate environmental recovery post-disaster.

Tito emphasised that the IPDN cadets deployed in the third wave should promptly clean up the remaining mud in Aceh Tamiang.

This has already been carried out by IPDN cadets deployed in the first and second waves.

“The main target is to resolve issues still affected by mud, including hardened areas, as well as historical sites (Istana Benua Raja),” he said in a press release received by Kompas.com.

Tito explained that the mud cleaning is being conducted in settlements and drainage due to the impact of flooding that brought deposits up to 5 metres (m). This issue is one of the most severe in Aceh Tamiang.

Meanwhile, IPDN cadets in the first wave were deployed to handle disaster-affected locations that were quite challenging as they were sent during the early recovery phase.

In the second wave, the deployed IPDN cadets focused on mud cleaning in community environments as well as public facilities and other social facilities.

Tito added that the IPDN cadets in the third wave are targeted to clean 42 points over a month, consisting of 10 houses, 22 drainage systems, 7 roads, and 3 social and public facilities.

If the target is completed in less than a month, the IPDN cadets will be shifted to other points still filled with mud in community residential areas.

“If faster, they will be moved to other places that require assistance,” he said.

On that occasion, Tito reminded the IPDN cadets to uphold the institution’s good name and to utilise their assignment period in Aceh Tamiang as a real learning space for governance knowledge.

On that occasion, attendees included the Director General of Regional Administration Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Safrizal ZA, IPDN Rector Halilul Khairi, Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah, Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Pahmi, and the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) of Aceh Tamiang Regency.
