PRR Task Force Delivers Aid to Disaster Victims in Pidie Jaya
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Minister of Home Affairs, who serves as Chair of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) for Post-Disaster Regions in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, has distributed assistance to victims of hydrometeorological disasters in Pidie Jaya Regency. The aid was presented symbolically by Tito together with the Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf at the MTQ Building in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh. Tito praised the positive progress of post-disaster recovery in Pidie Jaya. Based on his assessment, there have been significant changes that communities are beginning to feel, including smooth road infrastructure, normal electricity supply, and the effective functioning of public facilities. “Moreover, the ongoing efforts, including the deployment of the TNI/Polri, BNPB, and various measures in the post-disaster recovery,” Tito said in a statement from Jakarta on Saturday. The aid distributed included death-inheritance allowances of Rp15 million for 56 deceased, aid for seriously injured victims Rp5 million for 23 people, livelihood guarantees (jadup) for 66,629 individuals, aid for temporary housing contents (huntara) Rp3 million for 18,839 households, and socio-economic stimulus assistance Rp5 million for 18,839 households. In addition, Tito also handed over assistance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, including 250 packages of religious supplies, dump truck assistance, excavator, and backhoe loader. The aid distribution process formed part of Tito’s working visit prior to closing the Aceh Ramadan Festival 2026 at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, Banda Aceh. Tito stressed that President Prabowo Subianto has, from the start, given serious attention to the disasters affecting three provinces in Sumatra. After the disaster occurred, Tito briefly proposed providing an emergency fund of Rp2 billion to the President for the 52 districts/cities affected in Sumatra. The proposal was positively received by the President, who increased the budget to Rp4 billion for each region. Additionally, the government has mobilised further aid through BNPB, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), and local governments (Pemda). It is hoped that this assistance will accelerate the recovery progress, particularly through local government management. “What cannot be handled at the centre will still be dealt with at the centre. At the centre I told the Deputy Governor and the Governor that we have held meetings. When at the Kemenko PMK, Bappenas already reported figures of around Rp53 trillion for future recovery,” he added. On the other hand, the recovery process continues in the long term. For example, road repairs are planned to be built permanently. Then permanent housing (huntap) will be undertaken comprehensively while ensuring the progress of reports and the accuracy of data submitted by the local government. “Speedier huntap, one of the prerequisites is having data. If the data are available and complete, I will immediately execute. I will coordinate with BNPB and Housing Minister, Mr. Maruarar Sirait. The two of them have been waiting,” he said.
