PRR Task Force Adds Facilities to Huntara to Ensure Residents' Comfort
Jakarta — Head of the Satuan Tugas Percepatan Rehabilitasi dan Rekonstruksi (PRR) Pascabencana, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, has said the agency will follow up on residents’ complaints about the comfort of temporary housing in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
One area of concern is the temperature inside the temporary shelters, or huntara, which some residents still find uncomfortably hot, so the PRR Task Force will provide electric fans to help air circulation inside the huntara.
‘TThey will also be assisted with fans,’ Tito said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Tito said the agency will coordinate with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to refine huntara construction standards, particularly with the possibility of adding a roofing underlay so that the shelters do not absorb too much heat.
‘Yes, we will convey to BNPB whether it is possible to provide an under-roof layer so that in future the standard includes it and it does not get too hot,’ the Home Affairs Minister said.
According to Tito, the government continues to evaluate various models of temporary housing built by various parties.
‘Di BNPB tidak ada ranjang, tetapi kelebihannya dapur dan toiletnya ada sendiri. Sementara yang dibangun Danantara dan Kementerian PU ada ranjang dan kipas angin, tetapi dapur dan kamar mandi komunal,’ Tito said.
Additionally, Tito said, the government targets evacuees still living in tents to move to huntara or receive housing waiting funds (DTH) before Idul Fitri 2026.
Currently, the number of evacuees in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra continues to decline and stands at around 6,000 people.
‘From about 11,000 last week, it has now fallen to around 6,000. Our target is that before Idul Fitri they have moved into huntara or use housing waiting funds,’ he said.
