Providing Quality Raw Materials, PepsiCo Empowers Local Farmers
The government is currently intensifying oversight of Indonesia’s food and beverage sector to ensure that products consumed by the public remain safe and secure. As a global company with a presence in Indonesia, PepsiCo continues to strive to provide snacks made from high-quality raw materials. “That’s correct, we are establishing a factory in 2025, with an investment of Rp3 trillion for the Cheetos and Doritos factory. The corn raw material has specific specifications to ensure it is not harmful,” said Director of Public Policy, Government Affairs & Corporate Communications at PepsiCo, Gabrielle Angriani Johny, at the Food Summit 2026 held at Menara Bank Mega in Jakarta on Monday (27/4/2026). However, Gabrielle noted that many people are unaware that high-quality raw materials for products are not always available in Indonesia. Therefore, it is not surprising that some raw materials are still imported. PepsiCo Indonesia, as a snack producer, has committed to complying with regulations and ensuring a secure food supply chain. “We remain committed to our obligations. But we believe more education is needed for the public and farmers. We have partnered with farmer partners to produce crops that meet industry standards and can be absorbed by the market,” she explained. According to Gabrielle, the company is actively educating and developing potato and corn farming alongside local farmers. This effort is part of the company’s commitment to boosting farmer productivity and quality. “We also facilitate knowledge transfer. This can be done quickly, and farmers are willing to accept guidance so that yields can increase,” she added.
