Protest Against Head of Bekasi Satpol PP's Statement, Linmas Storm City Hall Office
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com - A number of community protection (Linmas) members held a demonstration in front of the Bekasi City Government (Pemkot) Building on Monday (4/5/2026). The action was carried out as an expression of disappointment over the alleged statement by the Head of Bekasi City Satpol PP, Nesan Sujana, which circulated in an audio recording. In the recording, Nesan is said to have questioned the absence of Linmas members on duty at several points, including Danau Duta, Alun-alun Hasibuan, Plaza Chandrabhaga, Hutan Kota, and Kalimalang, which are considered to require 24-hour supervision. “In fact, Linmas members have not yet received an order letter. And Linmas also work only 12 hours,” said Agus when confirmed by Kompas.com via message on Tuesday (5/5/2026). According to him, the statement triggered disappointment among Linmas members, especially because it was deemed not in line with the actual working conditions in the field. “As Linmas members, we are angry about that. And until now, there has been no apology from him,” said Agus. During the action, several Linmas members were seen removing the grey uniforms they were wearing as a form of protest. The Linmas Danton for Harapan Baru Sub-district, Edi Wijaya, said the action aimed to demand an apology from the Head of Bekasi City Satpol PP. “Our purpose in protesting is to get an apology, and so that it does not happen again. Because Linmas work day and night to guard the sub-district and patrol the area,” said Edi. “So what Mr Kasat said, we ask that it not be repeated,” he added. Edi hopes that leaders can pay more attention to the conditions of Linmas members who have been tasked with maintaining security in the area. Meanwhile, the Head of Bekasi City Satpol PP, Nesan Sujana, stated that the polemic occurred due to a misunderstanding in interpreting the leadership’s instructions in the field. He assessed that the instruction was intended to optimise personnel placement at strategic points, not to burden the members.
