Jakarta — Bank Indonesia (BI), through the BI Representative Office for Maluku Province, partnered with GoPay in an effort to strengthen financial literacy and the security of digital transactions in educational environments, particularly for teachers and pupils who daily use digital financial services.

Through the talk show ‘Cerdas Bertransaksi Digital: Membangun Kesadaran Perlindungan Konsumen bagi Guru dan Siswa’ (Smart Digital Transactions: Building Awareness of Consumer Protection for Teachers and Students), the event emphasised the importance of improving financial literacy and digital security as digital transactions rise, to safeguard the public from various fraud modalities.

Deputy Head of BI’s Maluku Province Representative Office, Dicky Afrianto, stressed the importance of enhancing literacy around securing transactions in schools to cultivate a culture of safe digital transactions from an early age. ‘Through this activity, we hope teachers and students will not only become smart users of digital services but also be drivers of a safe transaction culture within schools and the wider community,’ Dicky said in a statement on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

He also commended GoPay as a payments industry player for its active role in the consumer protection education campaign themed ‘Kalau Ragu, Stop Dulu’ (‘If in Doubt, Stop First’).

Together with M. Yoga Pranata from BI’s Department of Payment System Surveillance and Consumer Protection, the central bank and GoPay provided education to 150 teachers and students on various digital fraud modes that frequently occur, such as phishing links, fraud via fake customer service, fake transfer proofs, and refund or incorrect transfer schemes.

Head of GoPay Compliance Division, Yogi Harsudiono, told participants they were equipped with practical safe transaction steps, including not sharing PINs and OTPs with anyone, safeguarding personal data, using official applications, and avoiding suspicious links. They were also guided on what steps to take if fraud is suspected, such as remaining calm, keeping transaction evidence, and contacting official services promptly.

‘Transaction security for users is our priority. Therefore, we not only strengthen security technology but also continually educate the public as a crucial part of GoPay’s consumer protection,’ said Yogi.

‘With the theme of exercising caution in transactions in line with the collective consumer protection campaign, we are committed to supporting Bank Indonesia’s efforts to improve digital literacy and consumer protection to realise a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy ecosystem.’
