Jakarta — Friderica Widyasari Dewi, prospective chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) board of commissioners, has reaffirmed her commitment to enforcing consumer protection if selected.

Friderica, who currently serves as Executive Head for Supervision of Financial Services Business Conduct, Financial Education and Consumer Protection at the OJK, stated that consumer and public protection will always be a priority in every policy she implements.

“Consumer and public protection has always been close to my heart. What we can do is enforce public protection,” Friderica, commonly known as Kiki, said during a hearing with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

As acting OJK board chairman, Kiki outlined four main pillars for consumer protection efforts. The first pillar involves strengthening financial literacy and education programmes for the public on a large scale.

The second pillar focuses on enforcing market conduct standards to ensure financial services industry players operate fair and transparent business practices. The third pillar addresses consumer complaint handling.

Kiki cited the case of fintech peer-to-peer lending platform Dana Syariah Indonesia (DSI) as an example requiring cross-institutional coordination. She assured that similar cases would be prevented in future.

“The DSI and other cases are under our attention, and we are coordinating with supervisory authorities regarding fintech lending to ensure law enforcement is carried out as best as possible. We are coordinating with the Criminal Investigation Police on the DSI case and we will ensure such incidents do not occur again,” Kiki stated.

Commission XI of the House of Representatives conducted a fit and proper test for ten prospective OJK board commissioner candidates on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. On the same day, Commission XI will make decisions on the five candidates selected to fill vacant positions at the OJK.
