National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of the Republic of Indonesia has officially launched a national programme titled BNPP MENYALA (Menyapa Langsung Praja dan Mahasiswa). The programme was first held at the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN) Kalimantan Barat Campus on Tuesday 3 March 2026, as an effort to equip prospective civil servants with strategic understanding related to border area governance.

The BNPP MENYALA programme is planned to visit eight border provincial capitals across Indonesia. Its aim is to instil awareness of the challenges, dynamics, and development opportunities at Indonesia’s frontier to young people and students.

Secretary of BNPP RI, Komjen Makhruzi Rahman, emphasised that border areas require civil servants who can act as a “conductor” or cross-sector coordinator to eliminate sectoral ego in public service.

“IPDN cadets are prepared to understand legal, administrative, and social aspects in a holistic way. The presence of officials at the border is not merely administrative, but also plays a role in safeguarding the nationalism of communities through humane and solutions-oriented service,” Makhruzi said in a statement on Wednesday 4 March 2026.

In the dialogue forum, Makhruzi outlined the strategic role of the Border Crossing Posts (PLBN) as a symbol of sovereignty and at the same time an engine of the economy. He hoped cadets would have integrity and a good attitude to be placed in critical regions in the future.

Similarly, BNPP RI Expert Group member Nur Kholis invited cadets to view the border from a global perspective. He stressed the importance of critical thinking in handling strategic issues such as Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM) in border areas.

“Border management must be based on continuous learning. Prospective civil servants must understand the evolution of the border concept and its strategic function in safeguarding national sovereignty,” Nur Kholis said. (H-2)
