Prosecutors Still Examining File, Richard Lee's Detention Extended Again

I would like to inform you that from 5 May to 3 June 2026, the detention period for suspect DRL has been extended. We have submitted this to the District Court (Pengadilan Negeri) for the extension of his detention,” explained Kompol Andaru Rahutomo, Head of the Public Information and Documentation Sub-section of the Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Division, to reporters on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Andaru explained that this detention extension process is being carried out due to the need to complete the case file. In the process, the file that had been submitted by the investigators to the District Court was returned because there were still items that needed to be completed. “In the process, there was a P19 on 13 April from the Prosecutor’s Office. There, the investigators completed the deficiencies in evidence, physical evidence, witness statements, hence there were some additional examinations and a series of other investigative actions to gather facts,” he clarified. The investigators then completed the case file according to the notes from the District Court. The case file was then resubmitted by the investigators to the District Court on 23 April. “The investigators have fulfilled the instructions from the Prosecutor’s Office. Now, for the developments, we will wait together to see how it progresses, hopefully the investigation will be completed soon,” he stated. On this occasion, Andaru also assured that Richard Lee’s detention is taking place at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Centre. He said there is no suspension of detention for Richard Lee. “I can confirm that up to now, suspect DRL is still detained at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Centre. If there is information about a suspension, I convey that there is no suspension of detention for suspect DRL,” he added.
