Prosecutors Seek Nine Years Imprisonment for Ammar Zoni and Others, Insist Process Not Reckless

JAKARTA – Prosecutors at Jakarta Central District Court have emphasised that the legal proceedings in the alleged narcotics trafficking case at Salemba Detention Centre involving Ammar Zoni and associates have not been conducted recklessly.

In the case, prosecutors are seeking a nine-year prison sentence for Ammar Zoni.

“The prosecution is not acting recklessly through malicious prosecution, or legal proceedings brought with malicious intent without sufficient basis and intended to harm others,” stated the prosecutor during the indictment hearing at Jakarta Central District Court, Kemayoran, Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The defendants in this case are Ammar Zoni, Ardian Prasetyo bin Arie Ardih, Andi Muallim alias Koh Andi, Ade Candra Maulana, and Muhammad Rivaldi.

They are charged with violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 Concerning Narcotics, as amended by Law Number 1 of 2024 Concerning Adjustment of Penalties.

Prosecutors also disclosed several pieces of evidence in the alleged narcotics trafficking case involving Ammar Zoni and others, including two small plastic sachets suspected of containing methamphetamine weighing 0.7412 grammes net.

Additionally, one plastic sachet containing 42 joints suspected of containing cannabis weighing 10.6494 grammes, one silver-coloured electronic scale, and cash totalling Rp233,000 in the DANA application.

During the indictment hearing, prosecutors stated that Ammar Zoni and five co-defendants – Asep Bin Sarikin, Ardian Prasetyo Bin Arie Ardih, Andi Mualim or Koh Andi, Ade Candra Maulana, and Muhammad Rivaldi – had been proven guilty.

Prosecutors then presented detailed sentencing recommendations for the six defendants.

Defendants Asep bin Sarikin and Ade Candra Maulana face six-year prison sentences each, minus time served in detention, plus fines of Rp500 million or alternatively 140 days additional imprisonment.

Defendant Ardian Prasetyo faces a seven-year prison sentence, minus time served in detention, plus a fine of Rp500 million or alternatively 140 days additional imprisonment.

Defendants Andi Mualim and Muhammad Rivaldi each face eight-year prison sentences, minus time served in detention, plus fines of Rp500 million or alternatively 140 days additional imprisonment.
