Prosecutors Deem Defence Pleas of Two Defendants Inconsistent with Facts in Chromebook Corruption Trial
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Public Prosecutors (JPU) have emphasised that the defence notes (pleidoi) submitted by two defendants in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops are inconsistent with the legal facts revealed during the trial. “This is contrary to the facts uncovered in the courtroom, obtained from valid evidence,” stated the JPU during the hearing on Friday (24/6/2026). The valid evidence presented includes witness testimonies, expert opinions, documents, and electronic evidence. “We request the Panel of Judges to reject the defendants’ defence or deem it unacceptable,” they said. The prosecutors remain steadfast on their previous demands, seeking six years in prison and a fine of Rp 500 million for each of Sri Wahyuningsih and Mulyatsyah, to be paid within one month after the verdict gains legal force. “We will submit a written duplicate,” said the defendants’ legal counsel. The Panel of Judges then granted time to the legal advisory team to prepare the duplicate. The next hearing is scheduled for Monday, 27 April 2026.
