Prosecutor Reveals Chat Messages from Defendant Radiet to Sister of Murdered Unram Student
The trial for the murder of Mataram University (Unram) student Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra at Nipah Beach, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) resumed at the Mataram District Court (PN) on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. Prosecutors revealed that defendant Radiet Adiansyah, alias Radit, contacted the victim’s younger sister four days after her death, inviting her to socialise.
“The incident (victim’s death) occurred on 30 August (2025). (Radit contacted the victim’s sister) four days after the incident,” said prosecutor Sulviany in the Mataram District Court hearing room.
This emerged when prosecutors presented the victim’s parents as witnesses. The prosecutor displayed the messages to both parents and read them aloud.
“Mang (the affectionate term used by the victim’s sister), I’m sorry. If you need someone to talk to, just contact me, okay, Mang,” prosecutor Sulviany read out Radit’s message to the victim’s sister.
In another message, Radit invited the victim’s sister to an outlet to buy ice cream. “Let’s go to Wedrink and buy some ice cream,” he wrote.
The series of messages received only brief responses from the victim’s sister. “Vira’s sister (the victim) replied, trying,” the prosecutor paraphrased.
Defendant Radit replied again to the message. He asked that Vira’s sister contact him if she needed anything. “Then he replied again, ‘don’t be afraid to contact me if you need something,’” the prosecutor stated.
The prosecutor continued reading the messages between defendant Radit and the victim’s sister. In one message, the victim’s sister asked the defendant: “What if Mang dies?”
“The defendant replied, ‘Mang wants to leave me just like Lala (victim Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra). That’s so mean, even though Lala already promised to teach me,’ the prosecutor said.
“The victim’s sister Vira replied, ‘I’m afraid you’re taking Mang out and then Mang dies. Sorry, I didn’t mean to,’” the prosecutor continued.
Defendant Radit replied to the message with a “no” and continued inviting the victim’s sister to Wedrink. “So, the defendant on the 30th (August 2025), four days after the incident, (defendant Radit) was already able to use his mobile phone, already able to type,” the prosecutor remarked.
The victim’s parents did not deny the existence of messages sent by defendant Radit to their other daughter. “Yes, there were messages from defendant Radit,” said the victim’s father, I Ketut Netra Bagia.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Ning Purnamawati, said Radit’s messages appeared to be attempts at seduction. “He chatted with Vira’s sister (the victim). It wasn’t asking about Vira, but it seemed like he was trying to seduce my children, inviting them to go socialise at Wedrink,” she said.
At the time, the victim’s body had not yet undergone Hindu funeral rites. “He contacted my child on the 30th (August 2025), while my daughter Vira, who he claimed was his girlfriend, was still at home and had not yet been given the funeral ceremony,” she stressed.
For context, the murder occurred on Tuesday, 26 August 2025. In this case, Radiet initially claimed he and Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra were robbery victims. However, police investigation determined Radiet as a suspect.
The murder began when Radiet attempted to sexually assault the victim. However, the victim resisted, leading to a struggle between the victim and the perpetrator.
