PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk (PRDA) is beginning to change the direction of its business strategy. The company is no longer aggressively adding the number of clinics but is instead more selective, taking into account market absorption capacity and the readiness of medical personnel.

Prodia CEO Dewi Muliaty stated that the launch of new services, including stem cell-based therapy, cannot be done hastily.

“Every time we open something new, there must be market absorption. We can’t just open it right away,” she said in an official statement quoted on Monday (20/4/2026).

According to her, this approach differs from the expansion of laboratory services, which has so far been volume-based. For high-technology health services, the market is considered still limited, thus requiring more careful calculations.

In addition to market factors, the availability of medical personnel is the main challenge. Prodia assesses that the biggest investment is not in infrastructure but in the expertise of doctors handling those services.

“The most expensive investment is doctors. Their expertise is what’s expensive,” Dewi said.

Therefore, the launch of new services will greatly depend on the readiness of human resources. The company ensures that every service is supported by doctors with competencies and vision that align to maintain quality.

Currently, stem cell therapy services are only available at the Prodia Senior Health Centre in Jakarta. This service targets degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, which are commonly experienced by the elderly.

Prodia views the potential market for technology-based health services, including regenerative therapy, as still open. However, its development is carried out gradually and not in the form of mass expansion.

This step is also part of the company’s strategy in managing business risks. Amid high costs and a market that is not yet broad, expansion that is too rapid is considered potentially to pressure performance.

As part of business strengthening, Prodia previously acquired a 30 percent stake in PT Prodia StemCell Indonesia (ProSTEM) worth Rp33 billion in 2025. This collaboration is aimed at developing biotechnology-based health services and precision medicine.

Going forward, Prodia remains open to opportunities for service expansion to major cities. However, such steps will be carried out selectively, considering market readiness and medical personnel.

For the public, this strategy change reflects a shift in the health services business. Access to advanced services like stem cell therapy is indeed starting to become available, but it cannot yet be expanded quickly due to cost factors and limitations in expert personnel.
