Private Sector Support Seen as Strengthening Free Nutritious Meal Programme Implementation on the Ground
Jakarta – The Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme represents a strategic initiative of the Prabowo Subianto administration aimed at improving the quality of human resources from an early age. With extensive coverage and a massive target beneficiary base, an increasing number of stakeholders are becoming involved in ensuring the programme’s success, with the goal of ensuring Indonesia’s young generation grows up healthy, intelligent, and productive.
Dadan Hindayana, Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), previously explained that MBG implementation across numerous regions had yielded positive impacts on child development. In areas that have implemented MBG for a full year, the BGN has recorded significant improvements in school attendance, more active learning participation, and enhanced physical resilience amongst children during activities and play.
“Once the nutritious meal programme arrives, the child wakes up earlier and even wakes up their grandmother,” Dadan stated in remarks cited on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
Private sector support serves as a strengthening factor in on-the-ground implementation, particularly in expanding reach and improving distribution efficiency. This also demonstrates the emergence of solidarity to build a higher-quality human resource generation for the future. When children receive adequate nutrition, the long-term impacts translate into improved educational quality and productivity.
Private sector support has also materialised through the Healthy Nutritious Milk (Sehati) programme, operated by PT Triputra Agro Persada Tbk. This programme represents the company’s contribution in strengthening MBG implementation through milk provision to schoolchildren in areas surrounding the company’s operational regions in Jambi, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan.
Sehati forms part of the sustainability initiative “TAP untuk Negeri” (TAP for the Nation), which focuses on improving the health and educational quality of the young generation. Through regular milk distribution, the programme aims to help meet children’s nutritional needs, prevent stunting, and support optimal development during school age.
“I enjoy drinking milk – not only does it taste good, it also helps me become stronger for studying and playing football. Thank you TAP,” said Antonius, a student at SDN 2 Jahitan in Seruyan, Central Kalimantan, as one of the milk recipients from the Sehati Triputra Agro Persada programme.
