Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the government only guarantees fixed prices for energy types subsidised by the state. He mentioned this following the increase in non-subsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices since 18 April 2026.

He emphasised that non-subsidised products are intended for industrial and commercial sectors, so their prices adjust to global market dynamics.

“Specifically for subsidised LPG, our stock is above the national minimum standard. And the price remains unchanged, flat. Just like the price of RON 90 petrol and CN 48 diesel,” he said when met at the Ministry of ESDM office in Jakarta, quoted on Thursday (30/4/2026).

Bahlil noted that price adjustments in the non-subsidised sector are unavoidable as those commodities are consumed by medium to upper businesses. According to him, the government does not intervene in market prices for the industrial, restaurant, or hotel segments, which already have their own formulations.

“I said that we regulate prices that the government can guarantee won’t rise for subsidised ones. Meanwhile, non-subsidised ones are used by industry, restaurants, hotels. So we don’t regulate their prices; they adjust to market prices,” Bahlil continued.

Indeed, PT Pertamina (Persero) officially raised the selling price of non-subsidised 5.5kg and 12kg LPG starting 18 April 2026. This price adjustment has also been implemented at various official depots at the regional level.

Based on observations in the South Tangerang area, the price of non-subsidised 12kg LPG is now Rp255,000 per cylinder. Compared to the previous period, this price has increased by Rp45,000 per cylinder.

An increase also occurred for non-subsidised 5.5kg LPG, now sold for Rp125,000 per cylinder. For this type, the price has risen by Rp15,000 from the previously applicable price before the latest adjustment.

“The 12kg is Rp255,000, while the (5.5kg) is Rp125,000,” said the LPG depot guard, quoted on Thursday (30/4/2026).

Nevertheless, the price of subsidised 3kg LPG remains unchanged. The price applicable at least at one retailer in the South Tangerang area is still the same as the previous period, namely Rp22,000 per cylinder.

Meanwhile, the Highest Retail Price (HET) for 3kg LPG is Rp19,000 per cylinder in the South Tangerang area.
