Press to discuss growth area
JAKARTA (JP): The Confederation of ASEAN Journalists is to convene for a seminar in Manado, North Sulawesi, from Sept. 26 to Sept. 30, to discuss investment opportunities in the Indonesian provinces included in ASEAN's eastern subregional growth area.
The confederation's secretary, Abdul Razak, said in a statement yesterday that about 100 senior economic reporters from the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Japan will take part in the seminar titled Investment Opportunities in East Indonesia within the BIMP-East ASEAN Growth Area.
The growth area comprises Brunei, the eastern provinces of Indonesia, Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia, and Mindanao in the Philippines.
The speakers at the seminar will include State Minister of Research and Technology/Chairman of the East Indonesian Development Committee B.J. Habibie, North Sulawesi Governor E.E. Mangindaan; Director of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center, Syvelyn Tan and Paul G. Dominguez, the assistant to the president of the Philippines.
Abdul Razak said the seminar will be opened by Minister of Information Harmoko on Sept. 26 at the Manado Beach Hotel. (jsk)
