The Presidential Palace in Jakarta is confirmed to open its doors to the general public for the halalbihalal event on Eid al-Fitr 1447 H today, Saturday (21/3). Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that this agenda serves as an open form of community outreach for all citizens. “At the Palace, in the afternoon, we are preparing a halalbihalal and community gathering for all members of the public who wish to visit,” said Teddy during a press briefing in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday (20/3). The event is scheduled to run from afternoon until evening with a capacity of around 5,000 people. To ensure comfort, attendees will be served in shifts. The Palace authorities have also prepared additional tents in the outer area to accommodate visitors if the inner area becomes full. Visitors will not only be able to tour but will also be treated to various traditional Lebaran dishes and family entertainment. “It’s open to the public from afternoon to evening. Like last year, for the people, the Palace is opened to the people. Various types of food and some entertainment for young children will be prepared,” Teddy explained. He added that families out celebrating Eid al-Fitr are especially welcome to stop by. “Members of the public who are perhaps with their families touring during Eid al-Fitr, if they want to bring the whole family there and stop by the Palace, they are most welcome,” he added. Although the Palace is open to the public, President Prabowo Subianto’s presence at the event is still tentative. This is because the President is scheduled to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, and inspect post-flood disaster handling in the area on Saturday morning (21/3). “Then possibly, possibly the President will greet them, but the timing is tentative because we don’t yet know how tomorrow’s activities will go,” Teddy concluded. This opening of the Palace continues the tradition from previous years, providing an opportunity for the people to engage in direct outreach within the government centre during the moment of victory.
